Instructions for Using the Levy Response System in MyTax Illinois

To use the levy response system in MyTax Illinois, you must have the applicable levy notice from the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR). You will not be able to make a payment or submit a response if you do not have the applicable levy notice with necessary information. Only use MyTax Illinois to make a levy payment or to indicate why payment will not be made for the levy.

Do not respond through MyTax Illinois to indicate that you will be submitting a payment through another avenue.

Once logged into your MyTax Illinois account, select “Respond to a Levy”, and enter the ID numbers provided on the levy notice.

Select “Add a Record” to either make a levy payment or to indicate why payment will not be made for the levy. If you need to respond to multiple levies, you will need to select “Add a Record” again to create a response for each levy. You must enter each employee’s social security number to ensure the proper payment amount is applied to the correct employee. Select “Next” after your final entry.

Select “Save and Finish Later” if you need to exit MyTax Illinois and return at a later time to finish. The information you have entered will be saved but will not be submitted to IDOR when this function is used. After you select “Save and Finish Later”, you will be given a confirmation number, which you will need to complete your response when you return.

To complete your saved response, go to “My Requests” under “Requests and Correspondence” in your MyTax Illinois account. Use your confirmation number to select your previously saved response and then select “Edit” to complete your response or select “Withdraw” to cancel it.

Select “Save and Continue” if you want to save the information entered and continue working. Your response will not be submitted to IDOR when this function is used.

Select “Cancel” only if you want to cancel all entries included in the response. If you are responding to multiple levies and want to cancel only particular entries, select “Delete this Record” to delete only those entries.

When you are finished working on the levy response, select “Submit” to submit your response to IDOR. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation number that you should retain in your records.
