Workshops for Local Government Officials

What are Local Government Workshops?

The Illinois Department of Revenue holds informational workshops to discuss items related to the allocation and distribution of taxes to local governments, including updates on changes that have happened as well as some exciting news for the future.  Some of the topics that will be covered include:  Annexations, Business District Taxes, new Rebate Sharing Agreement reporting, taxpayer listings, MyLocalTax, and new legislation that impacts local governments.

Who should attend?

We encourage municipal officials, county officials, and their staff members to attend the workshops. Clerks, treasurers, fiscal officers, and staff who are responsible for reviewing taxpayer listings are personnel who also could benefit from these workshops.

Are reservations required?

Seating is limited at the various venues; therefore, it is preferred that you pre-register with our office at least three business days before the workshop is held. However, we will welcome walk-in registrations. There are no fees associated with the workshops and no limit on the number of people from each local government who may attend.

Dates and locations for 2024

LTAD will host an online WebEx workshop on June 12, 2024, from  9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This training will be recorded and posted to our website, for viewing at any time.

The success of the Department’s Local Government Workshop program is due in part to the generosity of local officials throughout the State who have provided places for us to conduct the workshops.  If you have a handicap accessible facility with ample parking that will accommodate 30 to 60 people and are interested in sponsoring a workshop, please contact us for more information on becoming a host.
