Virtual Audit Room (VAR) Information

The Illinois Department of Revenue has created a new electronic option to help the audit process become more efficient and cost effective. This option is available by invitation only.

A “Virtual Audit Room” provides a secure, confidential environment where access is controlled and sensitive information is electronically shared. Your auditor will create a secure folder where

  • you can share books and records electronically with your auditor; and
  • your auditor can share document requests, audit workpapers, and other information with you.

At the conclusion of the audit, the audit folder and all information contained within will be deleted.

How do I use a Virtual Audit Room for my audit?

Let your assigned auditor know you wish to participate in the VAR program. You will then receive an email invitation, which will contain a direct link to your “Virtual Audit Room.”
