Why did I receive Form 1099-INT from the Illinois Department of Revenue?

The Illinois Department of Revenue is required by federal law to issue Form 1099-INT to any taxpayer who received $600.00 or more of interest from their Illinois Income Tax refund. You must contact the Internal Revenue Service at 800 829-1040, or visit www.irs.gov to determine if that income is taxable. If it is taxed on your federal return it will be taxed on your state return.
