Do I have to register with Illinois to file IL-1040 tax returns electronically through the Modernized e-File (MeF) program?

Electronic Return Originators (EROs), Authorized IRS e-file Providers, and Transmitter businesses are not required to submit a separate Illinois enrollment application for authorization to file Illinois Individual Income Tax returns electronically through the MeF program. E-file providers approved in the IRS Electronic Filing Program are automatically enrolled in the Illinois program.
