How do I get a State of Illinois tax lien released or payoff amount?

We may have filed a lien to make a legal claim on your property as security or payment for past-due debt with the State of Illinois. Even if a debt has been paid or corrected, your credit report may continue to show a lien if a lien release has not been recorded. The lien will remain for 20 years or until you pay it off, whichever comes first. Contact the Lien Unit to learn more about the items for which we have taken this collection action, to obtain a lien release or payoff amount, or for other lien-related questions.
