Electronic Funds Transfer Registration

EFT is an electronic payment method that you use to pay your tax liabilities. Instead of writing a check for the amount of tax due, you instruct your financial institution to transfer the funds from your account to ours. We then apply the transferred amount to your liability. Individuals may pay their IL-1040-ES and IL-505-I with this method. Businesses may pay a variety of tax types through EFT, please see the form below for a complete listing.

For most taxes, you must participate in the EFT program if your average annual tax liability meets or exceeds an annual statutory threshold of $200,000. Beginning July 1, 2003, all cigarette revenue tax stamp purchases must be paid by EFT. We will notify you by August 1 if you must make your payments by EFT. If you are interested in paying your tax by this method voluntarily, please do the following:

Step 1:
Complete Form EFT-1, Authorization Agreement for Electronic Funds Transfer.
You will be contacted by the department after we receive your form.
